Diane
Ratnik

Athlete

Diane Ratnik started her career through the Ontario club system and was named to the National team without any Provincial Team or Canada Games experience. Originally a middle player during her career and in the 1984 Olympic Games, Diane did the unthinkable and switched positions to become one of Canada’s best setters and remained in that role right into the 1996 Summer Olympic Games.

Diane was National Team Captain from 1985-88, and has won numerous awards for her accomplishments over the years. She is a great role model for young aspiring female athletes not only for the way she conducted herself on the court and for her representation for her country but as a professional. Since Diane’s retirement from international volleyball, she has moved on in a career that continues to allow her to influence the sport she loves. Diane has been an ambassador for the sport as a F.A.M.E speaker from 1989 – 2000. She has coordinated many National and International Beach volleyball events. She has coached, been a volleyball clinician, had worked on the Toronto 2008 Olympic Bid, and continues to work with elementary and high school athletes.
