National Championships Update

March 15, 2021: Volleyball Canada is continuing to work on modified event formats for domestic competitions in 2021 for both indoor and beach. Staff are closely monitoring developments with Provincial and Territorial COVID-19 re-opening frameworks and public health guidelines with the goal to release further information by May at the latest.

"We are still working toward identifying a safe and enjoyable event format for this year,” said Sandra de Graaff, director of domestic competitions.  “We recognize that teams may not be interested in travelling long distances to compete, and we are therefore looking into options for hosting regionally. If we are able to host in 2021, events will take on a new format and will not look similar to past championships.”

VC is in communication with its provincial and territorial partners to ensure that its return to competition effort is rolled out with the health and safety of our participants, staff and partners in mind.

"We thank all our potential participants for their patience during this uncertain time. We are looking ahead with optimism to the future and getting back to playing our sport safely.”

Please note that the indoor Canada Cup, previously scheduled for Calgary, will not take place in 2021, but stakeholders are still exploring the feasibility of a Beach Canada Cup this summer.
