Senior Men’s Team Training to Resume July 6

JUNE 30, 2020: Volleyball Canada’s men’s indoor training centre in Gatineau, Quebec, will open for senior team training on July 6.

"After careful consideration and in accordance with local regulations, we are holding group training sessions at the Centre Sportif de Gatineau,” said Julien Boucher, Volleyball Canada’s Indoor High Performance Director. "We are taking precautions to ensure the safety of athletes and staff."

Coach Glenn Hoag and assistants Dan Lewis and Gino Brousseau will oversee the sessions. Athletes will follow guidelines on sport participation and social distancing when applicable. The City of Gatineau facility remains closed to the public until further notice.

The men’s team qualified for the 2020 (now 2021) Olympics as a result of winning the NORCECA Qualification Tournament in January in Vancouver.

The women’s indoor centre in Richmond, B.C. is not yet fully operational. Women’s team members will have access to strength and conditioning facilities at the Richmond Olympic Oval (which opens to the public July 02).

Canada’s beach centre is open to a small group of athletes in accordance with Ontario’s phase 2 COVID reopening guidelines.

All NextGen camps are still cancelled, and Volleyball Canada is offering virtual programming for its youth programs (U20 women and U19/U21 men).
