Check-in for tournament 1 will take place Wednesday May 16th from 1pm-8pm.
Check-in for tournament 2 will take place Saturday May 19th from 1pm-8pm.

Important Check-in Reminders:
- Only individuals on the official team roster can check-in their team (head coach, assistant coach, team contact, manager).
- The players themselves are not required to be at check-in.
- Proof of age must be presented for all players in the form of a government - issued ID (copies are encouraged).
- Teams who are not available during the listed check-in time will be required to submit a late check-in request and will be charged $50.
- Coaches are required to provide their NCCP number at check-in.

Practice Times
Teams may sign up for a practice time prior to their tournament at no charge. Teams are permitted one 60-minute practice slot and are asked to promptly exit the court space at the end of the reserved time. Practice times will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Special Events

NORCECA Women’s Nations League Challenge Cup:
The Women’s Challenger Series will take place from May 17-20 and features teams from Canada, Cuba, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago. The Challenger Series is part of the women’s qualification process for the new FIVB Volleyball Nations League, which is being launched this year. Canada has been honoured with hosting this event and it is taking place in the same venue, at the same time as nationals!
The Canadian women’s national team plays on the 17th at 7pm and the 19th at 4pm with playoffs to all be played on the 20th. See www.ticketmaster.ca for ticket pricing and more info, as well as rates for groups of 10 or more..
Men’s Exhibition
The Men’s National Team will be playing matches on the 16th and 18th at 7pm. Both games will be played against Mexico. See www.ticketmaster.ca for ticket pricing and more info.
Men’s Para Exhibition
The Canadian Men’s Para National Team will play a total of 5 matches against the U.S. Men’s Para National Team. These matches will all be held in Hall A.
All Nationals participants and spectators who have proper accreditation or event passes are welcome to come cheer on the teams at not additional cost.

Team Canada Women’s Sitting Volleyball athletes and volunteers will be selling 50/50 tickets throughout the weekend to support their trip to Netherlands for World Championships this July. All proceeds will go directly to Team Canada Women’s Sitting Volleyball.

Team Services
Meals
The Edmonton Expo Centre will have a variety of restaurants on-site to cover all of your food cravings! From smoothies to burgers, you’ll find a variety of athlete centered options as well as your favourite food court go to.
Food trucks will also be available on-site, they will be accessible outside of the venue near Hall A (Explore Edmonton Hall).
Please keep in mind that food not provided by Expo vendors will not be allowed indoors. If you choose to bring your own food please use the outdoor picnic zones.
Team Meal Orders
The deadline to place team meal orders has passed.
Looking for a well rounded sit down meal for your team? Teams are welcome to pre-order buffet style and box meals during Nationals 2018. Team meals will be available in room 202 near the Alberta Hall (C).
Medical
All participants have access to free medical services and supplies while participating at nationals.
Volleyball Canada is providing athletic therapists that will be available on-site for all athletes. Every hall will include a medical station in which an athletic therapist will be available.
Cramer Medical has provided all medical supplies for nationals. This includes free taping for all athletes! Thank you to Cramer Medical for their support!
Please make sure to review the Concussion Policy and Protocol. All athletic therapists on site will be qualified to perform concussion assessments if necessary; players who do not pass their assessment will not be permitted able to play for the remainder of the tournament.

Parking on location is 12$ a day. We encourage anyone that will be parking on location to pre-purchase the tournament parking pass.

If you plan on arriving in and RV/Motorhome, note that overnight parking or camping is not permitted. The price of daily parking for these types of large vehicles is $24 per day and will be allocated to parking space E-1 (see attached parking map)
Transportation
Make sure to take advantage of the Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) with bus and train routes that will transport you right to the venue!
The Metro Line train frequents Coliseum Station every 15 minutes.
Make sure to use the travel planner on the ETS website to plan the route that works best for you.
Nationals Expo Hall
The Nationals Expo Hall will be home to all the action off the courts. Here is where you will find all of your VC Event merchandise needs, get a massage to let out your kinks and strains, and visit a variety of vendors between matches. The Nationals Expo Hall will be accessible from 9:00am – 7:00pm throughout nationals and is accessible at no charge. The Nationals Expo Hall will also be the home of the awards ceremony at the end of each tournament.

Mizuno Blue Room
Calling all coaches! Come check out this great new addition for you to find a quiet spot to sit down and prep for your next match.
The Blue Room will be open Wednesday, May 16th from 1 – 8pm and throughout the remainder of Nationals (Thurs 17th - Tues 22nd) from 10am – 8pm each day.
Parent Lounge
Yes, parents; we have a special room just for you! Looking to get away from all those whistles? Come visit the room set aside for parents only to get a quiet moment amongst all of the Nationals excitement. Coffee and specialty beverages will be available for purchase in this area as well.

Awards
Every year, Volleyball Canada awards 1 Fair Play Award to each 14U gender and 6 All-Stars and 1 MVP per 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U age group/gender at Nationals. All winners are announced at the awards ceremony and will be listed here after the tournament.
Gold, Silver and Bronze medals are awarded to the top 3 teams of all Division 1, Tier 1 age/gender divisions. Gold and Silver medals are awarded to the top 2 teams of all other Tiers and Divisions.
Awards will be handed out May 19 for tournament 1 and May 22 for tournament 2. These awards will be held in the Nationals Expo Hall and will be free of charge to attend.

Player of the Wave
Our Player of the Wave award is back by popular demand for 2018! Each team will be able to nominate one player on day 1 & 2 of competition. After each wave, coaches will select a deserving player to submit a ballot at the VC booth. All players who submit a ballot will receive a personalized Player of the Wave certificate and a sport towel from Mizuno and Volleyball Stuff. There will be a draw at the end of each wave for a Volleyball Canada prize pack!

Rosters
For 2018, players can only appear on one roster (one age category) during the 2018 VC Nationals.
Rosters do not need to be uploaded by teams for Nationals. All rosters (including players and coaches/team personnel) will be taken directly from the Provincial/Territorial Association (PTA) based on each team’s final roster for their PTA Championships.

Team Photo/Logo Upload
Volleyball Canada is collecting team photos AND club logos for the Edmonton 2018 National Championships. Team photos will be uploaded onto individual team pages in ISET and club logos will be used for webcasting purposes. Any team that does not submit a team photo or club logo will have that space replaced by an Edmonton 2018 event logo. For more information and to submit your photo and logo, click here.

Accommodations & Travel
Accommodations
Volleyball Canada’s Stay to Play policy is in effect for the 2018 National Championships in Edmonton. This means that all participating teams are required to book hotel rooms through the event’s Accommodation Management Provider (AMP), in order to be eligible to play in the tournament.
HTG Sports Services is the official Accommodations Management Provider for the 2018 National Championships. All bookings must occur through the HTG booking portal.
NOTICE: HTG will be contacting teams to confirm special requests (extra rooms and room nights) as soon as possible. We understand the urgency of your request, but we ask for your patience over the upcoming weeks.

Stay to Play - Exemption Requests
Volleyball Canada will consider Stay to Play exemption requests under the following categories:
- Proximity Exemption Request: A team is based within 160km of the competition venue OR the team plans to stay with family or friends that resides within 160 km of the competition.
- Special Exemption Request: For exemption requests that do not fall under the above category, please fill out this Special Exemption Request.

The final matches on Saturday May 19th and Tuesday May 22nd will start as late as 4:45pm. Please keep this in mind when booking flights and accommodations.

Event Information
Scorekeepers & lines people
Each team will be responsible for providing one scorekeeper and one line judge for each of their games. Teams can choose to designate one individual per role or they can alternate from match to match.
There will not be any formal scorekeeper training prior to the event; however we will have staff on hand that have been trained to help whenever needed.
The head coach will receive one accreditation pass for their scorekeeper during coach check-in, which they can distribute to whoever they want.
