Beach Program Descriptions
Full-Time NextGen
- Next Gen Program is a full-time training group based at Volleyball Canada’s Beach High-Performance Center in Toronto, Ontario.
- Athletes are selected at an annual Selection Camp in December and then train and compete from January until the following December.
- Program provides year-round AAP carding, Technical/Tactical coaching, and IST support.
- The goal is for athletes to progress on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour and eventually earn Senior carding through their results.
Summer Development Program
- Summer Development Program aims to develop and transition athletes into the Beach National Team system and provide the foundation needed to one day compete on the world tour.
- Athletes can participate in other programs: NCAA Beach Volleyball, Indoor University programs and Indoor Pro teams.
- Provides AAP carding, IST support, and Technical/Tactical guidance while training within Volleyball Canada’s Beach Daily Training Environment at Ashbridges Bay Beach and CSIO in Toronto.
- Athletes are selected via an annual Selection Camp in May following an accessible online video application process and receive 4 months of AAP carding to train from May until late August..
- After the summer, athletes either return to their primary training programs or can look to try out for the Full-Time Next Gen Program.
Senior Program
- The Senior Program is the highest level in Volleyball Canada’s Beach National Program.
- Senior carding is earned through merit-based performance criteria achieved by a team in a given calendar year.
- Athletes in the Senior Program are on track for Olympic qualification and focused on earning a medal at the upcoming Olympics.
