18U Travel Grant

18U Travel Grant

Overview

The Volleyball Canada 18U Travel Subsidy program supports teams that excel at 18U Provincial Championships by providing a $500 travel grant to help offset the cost of attending Beach Nationals in Toronto. This initiative is designed to reduce financial barriers, ensuring that top-performing teams can compete on the national stage. By rewarding provincial success, the program encourages strong competition and expands opportunities for young athletes across the country.

Grant Details & Eligibility

Volleyball Canada will award $500 per team ($250 per athlete) to the 18U female and male provincial champions from each province and territory.  If a Provincial Champion team does not attend Beach Nationals, the grant will be offered to the silver medalists, and then to the bronze medalists, if required. If a PTA does not host its own championship, the grant may be awarded to the highest placing male and female teams who attend another PTA’s championship, at the discretion of their PTA.

All provincial champions will also receive an invitation to Volleyball Canada’s Provincial Champions Clinic at Beach Nationals on Thursday, August 13th, 2026. The clinic is a special one-hour training session hosted by Volleyball Canada’s National Team staff for provincial champions in each age-category.

Eligibility

  • 18U female and male provincial champions from each PTA
    • If Champions decline to attend, the grant will be offered to the silver medalists, then the bronze medalists. Grants will not be extended beyond bronze.
  • Teams must register and participate at 2026 Beach Nationals in Toronto

*Ontario medalists must be located 150 km or more from the venue to qualify for travel support.

Distribution

Volleyball Canada will use the Ranking Sheets submitted by each PTA for tournament seeding, to determine if there are eligible teams registered. These teams will be contacted directly by Volleyball Canada and funds will be dispersed post-event to each athlete.

Registration for teams playing up (underage teams)

There are no restrictions on teams or athletes playing up an age group at Beach Nationals. Athletes playing up more than one age-category will receive 0 points.

Please refer to the Schedules & Seeding section for full details.

Playing Down

Teams are not permitted to register for a lower age group at Beach Nationals than they competed in at Provincials. Any team found in violation of this rule will be required to withdraw from the event. Refunds, if applicable, will be issued in accordance with the event’s refund policy.

To ensure fair access for all teams, the following rules apply:

Event Registration

  • Teams may register for only one tournament (Toronto or Vancouver) prior to July 1.

  • If a team is found registered in both events before July 1, Volleyball Canada will ask the team to indicate their preferred tournament and will remove them from the other event.

  • Be registered in two different age groups
