U21 Men Indoor - Program Info
The purpose of the National U21 Team is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have potential or demonstrated international skill and experience to represent Canada at the international level.
General information
Volleyball Canada will be hosting the U21 Men’s National Team Program this summer at the National Training Centre in Gatineau, QC. The program will provide identified athletes with a full-time training environment that focuses on technical and tactical development in preparation for the 2023 U21 NORCECA Championship and the 2023 U21 World Championship. Athletes will have access to a full coaching staff and integrated support team to guide their development and growth as a high-performance athlete. Volleyball Canada will select athletes from across Canada with the attributes consistent with high performance and the potential to compete for Team Canada’s Senior Men’s National Team in the future.
Athlete eligibility
All athletes MUST:
- Be born in 2003 or later
- Be a Canadian citizen and have a valid Canadian passport to May 8, 2024 or later

All interested athletes must register on the GMTM platform from March 1 to 31, 2023. CLICK HERE
Selection Process
Volleyball Canada will pre-select 20-24 athletes for a selection camp (see dates below)
14-16 athletes will stay in Gatineau to train starting May 27, 2023
12 athletes ONLY will travel to competitions

March 1 – GMTM website open for video submissions
March 31 – End of GMTM video submissions
April 1-15 - Athlete selection
April 20 – Invitations sent out to selected athletes
April 30 – Deadline for invitation acceptance
May 19 – Arrival of pre-selected athletes in Gatineau
May 20-21 – Athlete on-boarding
May 22-26 – Selection camp
May 27-31 – Training in Gatineau
June 1-11 – U21 Norceca Championship – Cuba
June 14-July 4 – Training in Gatineau
July 5-16 - FIVB U21 World Championship – Manama, Bahrain
July 17 – End of program

Financial Implications
All athletes attending the selection camp will be required to pay a $300 fee.
All athletes selected to the Program will be required to pay a $2700 program fee/fundraising obligation. The money raised from these fees will be used to offset travel, training, and competition costs for the program. Note that the athletes not travelling to either competition will be reimbursed to a maximum of $500.
All athletes selected to the team will be nominated for Sport Canada assistance (carding) for the allowable minimum of 4 months at $1060/month. Athletes will also receive tuition support up to a maximum of $5500.00 per year (covers tuition in Canadian Universities only).
