August 16, 2024: Canada’s team is set to compete at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U17 World Championship, which takes place in Lima, Peru, starting on Saturday, August 17 to August 24.

Sixteen teams will take part in the event: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Thailand and Türkiye.

Canada’s athletes were selected from the Canada Cup “Red and White” program in July, held in Olds and Calgary, Alberta. 

"The first U17 World Championships is a great opportunity for youth players to experience international competition at an early stage in their development as athletes," said Dawna Sales, Director of Athlete and Coach Pathways for Volleyball Canada.

Canada will meet Dominican Republic in its opening match on Saturday.

All matches from the inaugural editions of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ and Boys’ U17 World Championships will be streamed live on VBTV free of charge. Canada will not have a team at the boys' event.
