NORCECA Championship begins for men today!

Sept. 05 2023: Seven teams, including Canada, are set for the NORCECA Senior Men’s Continental Championship running from Sept. 5 to 10 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center (West Virginia).

The tournament is important for world ranking points, as well as preparation for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers, which are held in China next month.

“It is important to focus on one game at a time and, inside the game, one rally at a time. We would like to grow as a team during the tournament. On the court, I hope we can see the things that we have been working on (in training),” said Canada’s head coach Tuomas Sammelvuo.

Canada is in a group with Dominican Republic and Mexico. Canada plays Dominican at 3 pm ET today.

The USA is in a group with Cuba, Puerto Rico and Suriname. Pool play runs from Sept. 5 to 7, followed by quarterfinals on Sept. 8 and playoffs on the weekend.
