Two beach silvers for Canada
Canada won both the men’s and women’s silver medals at the sixth stop of the 2025 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour at Playa Azul, Manzanillo, Mexico, this past weekend.
Home crowd favourites Mexico’s José Cárdenas and Jorman Osuna won the men’s gold defeating Canada’s Robert Kemp (Richmond Hill, ON) and Cameron Chadwick (Barrie, ON) in the final 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) on Sunday.
In their semi, Kemp/Chadwick came from behind to claim victory over USA’s Brewster/Ierna 2-1 (13-21, 21-16, 15-10).
On the women's side, Puerto Ricans María González and Allanis Navas won their fourth gold medal of the season after the final against Canada’s Darby Dunn (Surrey, BC) and Mikayla Law-Heese (Aurora, ON) with a 2-1 (21-15, 18-21, 15-12) score.
The bronze medal went to local favourites Susana Torres and Atenas Gutiérrez, who secured a spot on the podium before a supportive crowd with a 2-0 victory (21-15, 21-19) over Canada’s Akash Grewal and Katarina Pantovic.
