Volleyball Canada Wraps Up the Biggest Nationals in History

OTTAWA, ON (May 30, 2025) — After an action-packed 25-day stretch across 4 cities, the 2025 Volleyball Canada National Championships have officially come to a close. This year’s event has shattered previous records to become the largest Nationals ever, with 1680 teams participating in 14U to 18U age categories.

“We’d like to congratulate all of our National Champions, medalists, and award winners,” said Sandra de Graaff, Director of Domestic Competitions at Volleyball Canada. “The energy in every venue was incredible. You could truly feel how much it meant to players, families, and coaches to be competing for a national title.”

The 2025 Nationals kicked off in Ottawa and Fredericton with the 14U events and continued over the following weekend in Winnipeg with a third 14U event and Edmonton; kicking off the crown jewel of the event with the 15U Boys event.

In Edmonton, the Youth Nationals exploded in size and scope, drawing a record-breaking 1348 youth teams to the Edmonton EXPO Centre for an immersive volleyball festival. Beyond high-level competition, athletes and families enjoyed Parent and Coach Lounges, an Athlete Zone and activities including a gaming zone, DJ sets, an inspiring Olympic and Paralympic medal celebration, and a bustling vendor marketplace featuring 2025 event partners such as Volleyball Stuff (VBS), Jumplete, Left on Friday, Gruppo, SportChek and Mizuno.

One of the most exciting parts of this year’s Nationals was watching younger athletes experience the event for the first time.

“For many 14U and 15U athletes, this was their Nationals debut,” said de Graaff. “For the older teams, having multiple divisions under one roof created a true festival atmosphere that celebrated the entire Canadian volleyball community.”

The event also included a special medal celebration honoring Volleyball Canada’s Women’s Sitting and Beach National Teams, who proudly medaled at the Paris 2024 Paralympic and Olympic Games. Young athletes had the unique opportunity to hear firsthand about the journey to the podium, while also meeting their heroes for autographs and photos.

Volleyball Canada extends its heartfelt thanks to the thousands of athletes, coaches, referees, volunteers, parents, partners, and staff who made the 2025 Nationals a resounding success. We also gratefully acknowledge the support of the City of Edmonton, Explore Edmonton, the Government of Alberta for helping bring this incredible event to life. Additional thanks go to the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Tourism, the Province of Ontario, the Fredericton Capital Region, and the City of Winnipeg for their valuable support in hosting the 14U events across the country. Your passion and commitment continue to push our sport forward.
