Women’s sitting team wins Dutch Tournament on “road to Paris”

July 8 : The Canadian women’s sitting volleyball team won tie-break final over Brazil on Sunday 3-2 (25-21, 25-17, 17-25, 17-25, 15-12) to win gold at the annual Dutch Tournament in Netherlands.

"With our most successful event to date, we are very proud of our performance at the Dutch Tournament,” said Canada’s head coach, Nicole Ban. “We had a gusty win in five against Brazil and I couldn’t be more proud of this group for bouncing back after our fifth place finish at our last event (Super Six in France). With just over 50 days until Paris, we know the hard work doesn’t stop here but we truly believe in this group and what we can accomplish.”

The Tournament was held in Assen, Netherlands, and was used by Canada to help prepare for the Paralympic Games. Sitting Volleyball begins on Aug. 29 at the North Paris Arena.
