NextGen Men Indoor - Program Info

The purpose of the NextGen Team is to identify, select and train a group of athletes who have potential or demonstrated international skill and experience to represent Canada at the elite level.

General Information

Volleyball Canada will be hosting the NextGen Men’s National Team Program this summer at the National Training Centre in Gatineau, QC. The program will provide identified athletes with a full-time training environment that focuses on technical and tactical development in preparation for the 2026 competitions. Athletes will have access to a full coaching staff and integrated support team to guide their development and growth as a high-performance athlete.

The purpose of the NextGen Program is to identify and select a group of athletes with the attributes consistent with high performance and offer them the opportunity to represent Canada at the two upcoming International competitions:

  • Pan American Cup in Mexico from August 7 to 17, 2026
  • NORCECA Men's Final 6 in Puerto Rico from August 21 to 30, 2026

Note: A few athletes may be asked to join the Senior A team at some point during the summer.

Athlete eligibility

All athletes MUST:

  • Be Canadian citizens and have a valid Canadian passport to January 31, 2027 or later
  • Have Canada as their Federation of origin

Program plan

June 1 to August 6 – Training in Gatineau
August 7 to 16 – Senior Pan Am Cup, Mexico
August 17 to 20 - Training, location TBC
August 21 to 30 – NORCECA Final 6, Puerto Rico

Financial Implications

  • Program fee: Athletes selected to the NextGen program will be required to pay a $1500 program fee/fundraising obligation. The money raised from these fees will be used to offset travel, training, and competition costs for the program. Please note that the program registration fee does not include food and accommodations.
  • Athletes selected to the team will be nominated for Sport Canada assistance (carding) for the allowable minimum of 4 months at $1305 per month. Athletes will also receive tuition support up to a maximum of $5500 per year (covers tuition in Canadian Universities only).
