Beach Volleyball Trials Update

Volleyball Canada ran two trials at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto this past June 3 and 4 weekend.

Two teams (one per gender) were selected to represent Canada at the Youth Commonwealth Games being held in Trinidad & Tobago on August 4-11, 2023.  Team Canada will compete in Athletics, Beach Volleyball, Netball and Rugby 7s fielding a team of 74 athletes and staff.

The top teams will be nominated as Canada’s entry in the Games.

Men

1st – Oliver Toomes / Andon Kiriakou (ON)

2nd – Chris Tautrims /Brecken Morrison (ON)

3rd - Kai Boyko / Peter Labun (MB) 

 

Women

1st – Katarina Drozd / Calinda Kok (ON) (22-24, 21-15, 15-5)

2nd – Sophie Hancock / Burkleigh Smith (ON)

3rd – Sophie Lancup / Cornelia Crudu (QC)

 

In addition, Volleyball Canada ran a 4x4 trials for the ANOC World Beach Games, which will be held in Bali, Indonesia August 6-12, 2023. Six athletes are selected to each team. The ANOC World Beach Games is a global multi-sport event created by ANOC and first hosted in Qatar in 2019.
