Canada finishes 18th at the Girls’ U19 Worlds

July 12, 2025: Canada wrapped up its tournament at the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship today in Osijek, Croatia, with a 2-3 (25-17, 17-25, 25-10, 23-25, 9-15) loss to Spain.

Despite Canada’s service pressure, Spain was able to force a fifth set and win the tie-break today to finish 17th overall. Canada’s final ranking is 18th.

Canada’s head coach, Gina Schmidt, summed up the tournament for this young group of athletes: "I’m incredibly proud of this group. Events like this provide a unique opportunity for our young athletes to test themselves against the best in the world in their age group. This tournament has not only been a valuable learning experience, but also a crucial stepping stone in their future development.”

A total of 24 teams are part of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U19 World Championship held in both Osijek, Croatia and Vrnjacka Banja, Serbia from July 2 to 13.
