June 17, 2026: Canada’s women’s team kicked off week two of Volleyball Nations League with a 3-1 win over the Netherlands today in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Canadians made a decisive comeback after dropping the first set to win in four. Scores: 20-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20.

Canadian opposite Kiera Van Ryk led all scoring with 26 points - 17 attacks, 3 blocks and 6 aces!

“We won an important match against a very strong opponent and we are happy,” said head coach Giovanni Guidetti. “The team played well and all the players gave a great contribution to the final win over Netherlands (who were 8th in world rankings going into today’s match; compared with 10 for Canada). Now the focus is on Bulgaria; a team that can be very dangerous! VNL is like a long walk in the forest, there is nothing else to think about than the last step.”
