Team Canada Women 2022 U20 and U18 Program Information Released

February 28, 2022: Volleyball Canada is excited to release program information to help build the next generation of national team athletes. Canada’s women’s U20 and U18 programs will be offered in June and July 2022.

Team Canada Junior (U20, athletes born in 2004 or later)
Volleyball Canada will select 18 athletes for the 2022 National Team program. Athletes will train in Edmonton from May 25 to June 4, 2022 with a final travel roster of 12 heading to the Pan Am Cup. The Pan Am Cup, a qualifier for the 2023 U20 World Championships, will be held in Mexico from June 5 to June 13, 2022. To be identified, athletes must submit their profiles through GMTM by March 14. Athlete selection of 18 will be finalized by April 1, 2022.

NextGen Head Coach Carolyn O’Dwyer explains: "Having been a part of the U18 team that competed at World Championships in 2021 and NEP 2022, I am very excited to be part of the process to continue to see these athletes compete against top teams in our conference and return to World Championships in 2023."

Team Canada Youth (U18, athletes born in 2006 or later)
Volleyball Canada will select 24 to 36 athletes to train from July 6 to July 24, 2022 in Calgary, AB. A travel roster of 12 will compete at the U18 Pan Am Cup. From July 16 to 24 in Tulsa, OK, Team Canada will look to earn a spot at the 2023 U18 Girls World Championships. Team Canada Red and White will compete at the Canada Cup. Held at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex on the Tsuut'ina Nation, the top teams from each province will compete against each other.

To be identified for Team Canada U18, athletes must submit their profile to GMTM by May 1, 2022. The final training roster will be finalized in late May 2022. If athletes have already submitted their profiles for the 2022 NEP and Team Canada U18 Identification process held in November and December 2022, they are not required to re-submit.

To apply for a coaching position with Team Canada U18 2022 program, the deadline for submission is March 04. Director of Athlete and Coach Pathways, Dawna Sales, says "Volleyball Canada is committed to increasing the pool of high-performance coaches in Canada. We recognize that there is a significant gap at this level and this is an excellent opportunity with the U18 program this summer."
