Canada qualifies two teams for Beach Worlds

Sept. 21, 2025: Canada has earned two continental berths to the Beach Volleyball World Championship after this weekend’s NORCECA 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championship Qualification Tournament in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Canada's Marie-Alex Bélanger and Lea Monkhouse beat Gonzalez/Navas of Puerto Rico 2-1 (14-21, 21-17, 16-14) to win gold at the NORCECA event and receive a spot at the Worlds.

Sam Schachter, two-time Olympian, and Jonny Pickett won the bronze match over Mora/Lopez of Nicaragua 2-0 (21-11, 21-19) to earn a men’s berth.

The top four teams from each gender at this continental qualifier punched a ticket to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, which will be held 14-23 November in Adelaide, Australia.

Beach Pro Tour Elite 16 Update

Canada’s top-ranked women’s beach volleyball team of Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson advanced to the quarterfinals of the João Pessoa Elite 16 in Brazil.

Canada won its pool, but the team’s run ended with a 0-2 (15-21,16-21) loss to Cannon/Kraft of the United States on Saturday. Canada finished in fifth.
