Competition heats up in Calgary

Calgary, Aug. 09, 2025: Canada’s U21 men beat Chile 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21) at the 2025 NORCECA U21 Men’s Pan American Cup on Friday evening at the 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre near Calgary, Alberta.

Canada led in attack points (44-26) and aces (4-3). Blocks were equal at six. Canada made more errors with 29 compared with Chile’s 21. Luke Lodewyks and Owen Weekes each scored 13 points for Canada.

"They are a really strong team, and they put a lot of pressure on us, but I’m really happy that we were able to close out in three sets," said Chris Voth, Canada’s head coach. "We know they are dangerous and have a lot of weapons. Chile has shown that throughout the tournament. So I’m really happy that we were able to do that under pressure."

Canada wraps up the round robin on Saturday versus Mexico.
