Volleyball Canada’s Women’s National Excellence Identification for 2024 now underway

October 30, 2023: Volleyball Canada’s 2024 National Excellence Program (NEP) for our top youth female athletes in Canada is open for registration through GMTM. GMTM is an athlete exposure platform, offering athletes a free place to store all of their athletic recruitment activity.

The NEP identification process will provide any youth female athletes currently in grades 9-11, the opportunity to be considered for NEP 2024 by uploading their profile, highlight video and physical testing data for review by the selection committee. This is the first step in identification for our next NEP 2024 intake.

The Women’s NEP program is a full-time daily training environment for the top 16-20 athletes from across Canada in grades 10-12 from September through to December 2024 at the iconic Richmond Olympic Oval, in Richmond BC.  The program provides technical and tactical training in line with our Senior Women’s National Team Program as well as weekly strength and conditioning, access to physiotherapy and educational sessions in body management, nutrition and performance psychology. While a part of the program all athletes receive academic support for their continued studies online and access to mental health and wellness. “Moving into its 5th year, NEP continues to provide athletes with a high performance training environment based on motor learning principles, excellence in program design and exposure to Team Canada’s systems and supports. Volleyball Canada continues to be impressed by the quality of athletes; a testament to the commitment of all clubs and provincial/territorial associations”, states Athlete and Coach Pathway Director, Dawna Sales.

The deadline to upload your athlete profile with all the required physical testing data and videos is November 20, 2023.  The registration fee for identification is $50.00 USD.

Selected athletes will then be invited to attend one of the in-person regional identification camps being delivered throughout Canada from December to February.  Final selection of NEP 2024 athletes will take place in the Spring of 2024.
