Volleyball Canada Remembers Mitch Davidson

Longtime referee and sport builder, Mitch Davidson, passed away on January 31, 2025.  

Volleyball Canada joins his family and friends in sadness at this loss for the community.

Mitch had a life-long love of sports, particularly volleyball. He continued to be involved in the community right up until his passing. He was also an international referee who took his skills to the highest level – serving as a referee at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics.

In 2023, he was inducted into the Volleyball Manitoba Hall of Fame as a Builder.

“Mitch dedicated many years to growing the sport, inspiring athletes, and shaping the volleyball community. His passion, leadership, and kindness left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege to know him,” Volleyball Manitoba stated after his passing.

He is survived by his wife Michelle and their son, Mitchell Jr.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with details to follow.
